Pet Owners

• Is there any cost/do I need to register to use Grasshopper Pet Sitters?

  No. The site is completely free to search for local pet sitters and dog walkers. You can look at as many profiles as you wish, and contact as many members as you want to ensure you find the right sitter for your pet.

• What care can I expect from my pet sitter?

  Each person listed will be able to provide a different service. We have registered boarding kennels and catteries, professional pet sitters, and local families who can provide a 'home from home' service.

• How much will a pet sitter cost?

  A lot depends on which type of service you need. Each pet sitter runs their own business and we don’t set their rates. Some registered pet sitters will have a rates table on their profiles to give you an upfront costing for their services.

• How do I know I can trust the pet sitter?

  Good question. We’ve set up a feedback system that the member themselves cannot alter or delete. Any pet owner who has used that pet sitter before can leave them feedback on exactly how they found their service. Of course there are always going to be new members who haven’t built up their feedback yet, and you still may have doubts even after reading their feedback. We always recommend you meet your potential pet sitter before the day you are due for the pet sitting to begin. It’s good to make sure you feel 100% comfortable with who’s going to be looking after the fury members of your family, and at this point you can also discuss any other issues there may be, such as if your pet has a special diet, interesting behavioural habits or needs etc. You can discuss this with the pet sitter and make sure there are no surprises so they are also comfortable and confident they can provide this service with any pets with special requirements.

• How many dogs do dog walkers walk at one time?

  Each member will be different and this is something you will need to discuss with them. Some will walk individually, and others will walk in a group. It is a good idea to ask what the maximum number of dogs they walk at one time would be.

• Do the pet sitters have their own pets?

  Some will and some won’t. It is a good idea to discuss this with the individual pet sitter. Plenty do not have their own pets if this is something you would be more comfortable with.

Pet Sitters

• Is there a minimum sign up period?

  No. There is no contract, you can leave our site and remove your profile at any time. Please note that month’s membership will not be refunded for the remaining days left.

• Can I choose which types of pets I sit?

  Yes. When you sign up you can select each of the pets you can accommodate. If this ever changes, you can adjust your profile accordingly.

• I need to change some of my details, how do I do this?

  Just select the client log in, and from there you will be able to change your profile information, rates, contact details, pets you wish to sit for and your photos.

• Someone has left untrue feedback on my profile. What can I do?

  In the unlikely event of this happening, please email us using the contact us form supplying contact details of the pet owner. We will then investigate the matter and take appropriate and impartial action on the feedback left.

• How can I submit my profile under several regions?

  You need to submit a separate profile under each region you wish to advertise in.

• How can users find me?

  Each user is free to search Grasshopper pet sitters by type of pet, as well as locality. They can choose to search by town/city or within a chosen search radius from their post code.

• I’ve just registered and my profile isn’t showing. Why not?

  Once you have created a profile and entered your payment details, usually your profile will be up and running straight away. Sometimes it can take a few minutes for Paypal to verify your payment details and your profile won’t be visible during this stage. If it still persists it could mean the details were entered incorrectly. You can log into your account and select ‘Your payment information’ from the right hand menu. From there you will be able to revise payment details as needed.
